STOP PRESS: Watermans in its press release says: With live singing and music, this is an entertaining look at what was like to be a testosterone –fuelled teenager growing up in 1960s & 70s India.

Desi Canvas says: It's irreverent, provocative and hugely funny. The play contains strong language.

The Asian Age, London, 5 April 2005: "At Zahoor ka Hotal, UK Asians close gap - A group of Indians and Pakistanis based in London have decided to take time off their jobs to work on a project that combines reality and fiction to break the Hindu-Muslim divide."

I left 2 comments earlier but you seem to have deleted them. You say it's a mix of reality & fiction together...so what's real & what's fiction. Why do you have two different Kavitas for one character?

Goold luck! Sectarianism in the Asian society of Britain is terrible. Asians in this country must fight for their rights and not for the petty issues of their own countries.

We have negotiated a special discount from Watermans. Buy 10 tickets in a group & get a discount of £2 per tkt. You should publicise this discount on this blog....but you seem to be interested in tittle-tattle. Pardon me for my language.

The website of your sonsors Watermans says shows from 14 - 24 April. That was confusing. However, I found out from Watermans after making a call that the message on their site was a typo and infact shows of Zahoor ka hotel are from 14 - 17 April. Is that the final position now.???

The 4 shows of ZAHOOR KA HOTAL start from Thursday, 14th April 2005. Watermans have corrected the mistake cited above.

Play looks fantastic!! It's in easily accessible Hindi & Urdu (mixed).

Congrats! I watched your play Friday evening. Superb! Have never enjoyed a Hindi play so much in this country. It was an incredibly desi play with a very rustic sense of humour. I could smell the earth-the place, the background & any small town of India- through its amazingly real characters. Zahoor was superb and so was Kabeer. I felt so nostalgic....

I juts can't figure out one simple thing; was it really a piece of fiction? I don't think so. I guess it was based on a real story. Is that correct?

I wish you could have some female singers as well in the choir.

What a play! I couldn't get to the bottom of the story untill the end of the play. It was like a musical thriller. Well, let me correct it. It was a musical thriller with a lot of humour thrown in between. Or, may be, it was a farce. I'm finding it difficult to put it into a genre. However, the impact was powerful.

All actors looked fabulous to me. Interestingly, they looked quite real.

I met some of you after watching the performance Saturday evening. Now, I'd like to avail this opportunity through your blog in order to share my opinion about the play.

As an actress, who has been performing in this country for more than 30 years,I feel the play set a challenging task before the actors as well as director. As a member of the audience it was a moment of sheer pleasure to see the whole team rising to the occasion. Frankly, the Asian theatre in the South Asian languages, unfortunately, suffers from the lack of originalty and at the end of the day the it also leaves much to be desired. Zahoor ka hotal proved all those sceptics absolutely wrong and that includes me as well. The whole team deserves kudos for staging such a complex play in such a professional manner. I enjoyed it thoroughly and so did the audience. This morning, I spoke to Pervaiz to convey my appreciation to the whole cast. I'm usually ruthless when it comes to alalysing the work of arts. In your case, I have nothing but admiration to share with you. I personally think your play would make a strong feature film with a difference. Please do ask Pervaiz how I think this stage play can be turned into a good film script.

Congratulations for staging a ground breaking play.

Pervaiz

Your production is great.

I saw it the day after my visit to Shaftesbury Theatre for the much
talked about, Far Pavilion, a musical, which I found devoid of any soul.

Zahoor ka Hotal was such a relief. There were memorable lines in it.
(Moot-ta kum hei, hilaata zyada hei!) & kaat ke haat mei.n. de doonga). The cast gave so much of themselves to it and your presence was heartwarming. I hope that you bring this production to the Westend soon.

Best wishes.
